Wheelie Good Birthday

This card was made using a Lily-Boo image from the Boy's Toys collection. These are real fun images for the boys and easy to use as they can be resized to whatever you want This is the beauty of digital downloads, you have them forever and they don't take any room storing them.

The papers I have used are from DCWV adhesive paper print stack.

Daring Cardmaker Challenge - Post Pals

Hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather we are getting at the moment. I was a bit fed up last night as someone ploughed into the back of me while I was waiting at a roundabout. Luckily no one was hurt but my poor car is not very pretty now. So while blog hopping to cheer myself up I came across this challenge on Enfys blog where she had made a card for the Daring Carmakers challenge . This week the challenge was to "Make a Child Smile" and involved making a card to send to one of the children at Post Pals an organisation that helps to brighten a sick child's day. Pop over there and have a read, I tell you it puts your own life into perspective. I decided to make this card for a little girl called Amy and will be posted off tonight. The image is one of Sam's from Lilyboo's Boutique and the papers are downloads from Funky Hand (Minty Madness).

Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Card for my Boss

Here is a card I made for my Boss who's birthday it is tomorrow. This will be the first time she will have seen my handmade cards as I work at a marketing company and she is so good I have always been a bit shy to show her. Silly I know but I have only been there a year and felt a bit embarrassed about showing her as she is so good at what she does and I have never felt that my cards were good enough. I have decided to bite the bullet though and make her one and hope that she likes it as much as I have enjoyed making it. I used the Wedding solutions cartridge to cut the shoe out by welding the shapes together in design studio. I then mounted the shoe onto the front of the card so that the shoe opens to show her name. I then cut out a couple of flourishes, added some bling and a sentiment to the inside and voila.

I thought you may also like to see the scrapbook page I made at my crop today. I know it is using lilac again (can you tell I like Lilac) but I thought they went so well with the colour of Benn's bruise.

Thanks for looking.

Two postings in one day . . . .

I know, 2 postings in one day what is going on. Well I have been having fun tonight and managed to get my card done for the Friday Sketcher challenge. I have been wanting to do one of these for a while now but Friday seems to come round so quick that I have never managed it. I also wanted to enter the Cute Daisy May challenge as well and as the challenge is Animals I thought great, I can enter both, ha ha.

All the papers are from My Minds Eye (I have rather a lot of this as you have probably gathered) with one of the Easter 2009 Tilda's. I also covered some chipboard flowers with matching cardstock and finished it off with Liquid Pearls.

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Just Magnolia Challenge

Over at the Just Magnolia challenge blog the theme is anything to do with summer so this is what I came up with. I had seen a tutorial for making a little Pizza box over on the splitcoast stampers website and thought how cute it was. I stamped the adorable little Tilda image holding the little ladybird using my promarkers. All the papers were from My Mind's Eye, Bloom & Grow collection.
At present the box is empty but I am going to put some belgium chocolates in it to give as a little present to my brother's girlfriend as it is her birthday on Sunday.

Polkadoodle Challenge 5

Here is a card that I made last night for my Mum's birthday at the beginning of July. I had gone round there to say goodbye to her as she was going off for a fortnight on a cruise around Norway with her sister-in-law while my Dad stays at home. It was only then that I realised that she would be away for her birthday and I hadn't made her card yet. So after rushing home and getting dinner I proceeded to make this card for her.
It was also then that I thought I hadn't yet done my card for the Polkadoodle challenge and thought this would be perfect with having flowers on it (she does like her flowers), so here it is
All the papers are Daisy Bucket (Whimsical Ladies) with a cute magnolia image. I cut the ovals on my cricut by stretching the circle on Mini Monograms and I finally got a chance to use my lovely new Martha Stewart punch. The greetings are computer generated.
Hope you enjoyed looking.

My Black-Eyed Boy

Just thought I would share with you a couple of pictures of Benn with his shiner. I had a phone call on Friday from the school nurse to say that Benn and a friend of his has colided and Benn had got a lovely bump on his eye. She said that she thought they have all been playing this "Bring Down Bulldog" which had in fact been banned due to too many pupils getting hurt - funny that!!!

After questioning him it turns out that they were in fact playing this and couldn't see why it had been banned, "don't worry mum this is what teenage boys always do" is the answer I received.

The first one was taken just after getting home on Friday and the second was yesterday at his football tournament.

Do you sometimes think you are banging your head against a brick wall!!! I think actually he is quite proud of his shiner.

Hubby's Father's Day Card

Good morning, just thought I would show you the quick Father's Day card I made for hubby last night. Benn had already written his and packed it up under his bed with his pressy when I remembered that I had done one for my Dad but like to always do something for Brian (after all, if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have Benn would I).
I decided to try out one of the Spring cards that I have seen people doing using papers from the Nitwits collection and the adorable Hedgehog is from Collection 10 over at Lily-Boo's Boutique. These are wonderful little images that Sam designs and will be really useful for lots of occasions.

Polkadoodle Challenge 4 - 2nd Place Winner

Yippeee, I am soooo excited as I got in from work tonight to find that I had come 2nd place in the 4th Polkadoodle Challenge. I am so amazed after seeing what everyone else had produced but very very happy. Well I had better get going as I have a very early day tomorrow and lots and lots of football - lucky me!!!!

Another Father's Day Card

I have finally managed to get Benn's card done for Brian.
Brian has always loved and collected bears for as long as I have known him. In fact, when we were about to get married he joked that he would be bringing his bear to the wedding. I said he wouldn't dare, so between him and my mum they dressed this bear up in matching wedding attire and sneaked him into the wedding car without me knowing so that when my dad and out got in he would be sitting in the seat too. He then arranged for him to being sitting on the top table at our reception. Talk about their being three in this marriage.

Anyhow, this is the card I came up with. The papers I have used are DCWV Pet Stack, Basic Colours and Cricut cartridges Christmas Solutions (Bear), Storybook and New Arrival (Thank You)

Thanks for looking

Blog Candy

Wow, Enfys is giving away some fantastic blog candy. I have got to know Enfys since being on the Cricut MB and have got to say that she is one of the nicest, friendliest and helpful person I have come across. She has been a great inspiration to me and if it wasn't for her and her encouragement I would never have started this blog, let alone showcase my cards. Thank you Enfys.

If you fancy being in with a chance of winning this wonderful candy pop on over to her blog and leave her a comment, and while there have a nosy at all her wonderful work.

Father's Day

I have finally finished my Father's Day card for my dad and just need to get going with one for my hubby.
I have been seeing lots of these Joy cards and thought they looked really good so here is my take on it. Instead of giving the inside card a solid front I decided to flip and weld the word DAD from Beyond Birthdays to a rectangle using Design Studio so that when it was scored it would be round the right way. My base card is Bazzill and all other papers are from the "Some Assembly Required" collection by Nitwits. This collection is ideal for the men in our lives cards.
Hope you enjoyed looking.

Polkadoodle Challenge 4

Here is my entry for the Polkadoodle challenge. This week we had to follow the sketch but also use the free paper that was also provided. This was a tough challenge, especially after looking at the awesome creations the DT had done. I decided that I would make the card into a bird house and have the message on a separate card that pulls out, this then gave me a chance to make a card using the wonderful Lily-boo digital images called the Twit Too Collection. These have been created by a very talented lady called Sam and all sets can be purchased for £1.99, pop on over there and have a nosy at all the collections as they are fab. All other papers are digital downloads from daisiecompany.com. I have also edged the papers with my Fiskars Threading Water punch.

Latest Challenge Card

Where has all the nice weather gone, I feel like we have stepped back into winter and all the thick jumpers have had to come out again. Oh well, let's hope that the weekend is somewhat nicer.
I managed to get my Just Magnolia challenge card done last night which was to follow the sketch set by Rach. The cards that the DT come up with each week are really fantastic and. While blog hopping I just happened to notice that the challenge over at Cute Daisy May this week was to use Pink and Green. Well this card just so happens to fit the bill for both.
All background papers are from DCWV Nana's Nursery stack, a beautiful Magnolia image that my friend Sue stamped for me (she is probably reading this so if I am really lucky she will let me stamp a few more, he, he). I popped her onto a cutout from my Cricut using Home Decor. For anyone that hasn't got that cartridge it is well worth it. The sentiment is one I am proud to say I did myself on the computer even making the words up, I am normally hopeless at this sort of thing but they just popped into my head.

Sunday, 7 June 2009

Me again, I just wanted to show you what I have been working on over the last couple of days. As you know my parents are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary in July and my Mum had said that she would like me to make the bombonieres. For those that have never heard of these it is the italian word for favours. I had to make 50 of them for each lady that is attending.

I have a lot of friends who are Italian and so do my parents, and we have known about this tradition for as long as I can remember. In fact we have been using them at various weddngs, engagements, holy communions over the last 30 years but they weren't really heard or used by English people much then.
The tradition is that 5 almonds are used with white being used for weddings, green for engagements and pink/blue for babies. The 5 almonds represent Health, Wealth, Happiness, Long Life and Fertility.

Over the last couple of years they have started to become the norm now at most weddings and are now called favours. I still do, and don't think, I will ever think of them as anything other than bombonieres though.

Here are a selection of some others I have made previously, the Blue ones being what I did for my Stepson and Daughter-in-Law's wedding 2 years ago.

Hope you've enjoyed looking.

Cupcake Circle

I have been busy today making a card to enter into this week's Polkadoodles challenge. The main image is the adorable cupcake circle from Lily-Boo's Boutique, isn't it adorable, if you haven't yet visited why don't you pop on over. All the papers I have used are digital downloads from a site call Nitwit Collections. I came across this site by a couple of the ladies on the Cricut MB and it is definately worth checking out as you get a lot for your money, the collections range from $2.99 up to $8.99.

Lovely Award

Evening everyone I have just popped on to say a big thank you to a lovely lady called Eileen who I have met through the Cricut MB. We started a UK Crafters thread a while back and I have got to know Eileen along with a lot of other lovely ladies too. Well after getting back after a long day at Benn's football tournament where we got very cold and very wet, it was lovely to sign in to the MB and find that Eileen had made this lovely award for all of us. Thank you so much Eileen and for anyone who hasn't been to visit her blog, click on the lovely flowers and it will take you right there where you will find all her great creations.

3 Challenges in 1. . . . Yippee

Morning everyone. Here is my card for the Polkadoodle challenge where you had to follow a sketch, I find it so good to do these sketches as it really helps if you are lacking inspiration (and let's face it we all know what that is like, well I do anyway).
I was also able to combine it with the Just Magnolia Challenge as I have used this beautiful Tilda from the new butterfly collection that a lovely friend of mine lent me. The challenge here was not only to use a Magnolia stamp but to include somewhere on your card an insect or animal. Well I chose the butterfly off the Cricut Storybook cartridge.
My third entry is into the Cute Daisy May challenge where the challenge this week was to emboss. I struggled a little with this as it was hard to see the embossing on all the brightly coloured cardstock so I decided to bring Black into my design which then showed the embossing up lovely. I have used the cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder (have I told you that I love this one).
Well must go as work awaits but have a lovely day in the sunshine again.
